General Information on Viskazide
Viskazide, with its two active ingredients hydrochlorothiazide and pindolol, is used for treating high blood pressure. The generic name of this drug is Pindolol – Hydrochlorothiazide. High blood pressure patients should buy Viskazide only if their doctors have prescribed the drug for their treatment.
The two active ingredients in this drug work differently to reduce blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a water pill (also known as a diuretic), and it reduces blood pressure by allowing the body to effectively remove excess water and salt. Pindolol is a beta-blocker, and it reduces blood pressure by reducing the pressure on the heart, which, in turn, allows the heart to beat more steadily.
Viskazide is meant for oral administration only. The drug is available in the form of oral tablets. The drug comes in two strengths- Viskazide 10 mg 25 mg and Viskazide 10 mg 50 mg. Viskazide 10 mg 25 mg oral tablets contain 10 mg of Pindolol and 25 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide, while Viskazide 10 mg 50 mg oral tablets contain 10 mg of Pindolol and 50 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide.
The nonmedical ingredients present in Viskazide oral tablets are: magnesium stearate, D&C Red No. 21 Aluminium Lake, silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, D&C Yellow No. 10 Lake, and pregelatinized starch.
