General Information on Triavil
Triavil is a combination medication that contains perphenazine and amitriptyline. While perphenazine belongs to the drug class known as phenothiazines, amitriptyline belongs to the tricylic antidepressant family of drugs.
You may buy Triavil online for treating agitation, anxiety and depression. Triavil works in two ways- perphenazine targets the imbalance of certain chemicals that cause anxiety, bringing it back to normal. Amitriptyline also affects the balance of certain chemicals in the body that trigger depression.
You can buy Triavil only if you have a valid prescription from your doctor. However, you cannot take this medication if you suffer from a blood cell disorder like anemia, weak immunity or liver damage, or if you recently suffered from a heart attack.
Side effects of Triavil
The most common side effect of Triavil is that it causes you to think about suicide or hurting yourself. This side effect is especially strong when you are either taking an antidepressant for the first time or when your age is less than 24 years.
You must report to your doctor if you develop new symptoms or if your existing symptoms worsen, such as- anxiety, mood or behavior changes, panic attacks, impulsiveness, sleeping trouble, irritability, aggression, hostility, mental or physical hyperactivity, restlessness, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
Triavil or any other antipsychotic medication can cause problems in the baby when it is taken during the final trimester of a pregnancy. The child may suffer from feeding or breathing problems, withdrawal symptoms, fussiness, stiff or limp muscles and tremors. However, the mother may suffer from withdrawal symptoms when Triavil is stopped during pregnancy. Therefore, you must not stop taking Triavil while you are pregnant without talking to your doctor.
Dosage of Triavil
You may buy Triavil only if you are over 18 years of age and if you have been specifically prescribed this medication. You must take this drug only as per the dosage determined by your doctor, and you must not exceed the treatment period indicated.
Triavil may start showing results only after 4 weeks or so. Until then, you must continue taking this medication as prescribed. While you are on Triavil, you would be required to visit your doctor regularly to check for any signs of suicidal tendencies. You might also be required to take regular blood tests and medical tests to check your liver and kidney functions. You must not miss any appointment you have with your doctor.
You must not stop taking Triavil abruptly, as it may cause unpleasant and even intolerable withdrawal symptoms. You must ask your doctor how you can avoid such symptoms when you stop taking Triavil.
Interactions
Triavil interacts with several other drugs. You cannot take Triavil if you are taking MAO inhibitors (furazolidone, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, emsam, tranylcypromine, etc), or if you have taken then in the last 2 weeks. You must also stay away from alcohol while you are on Triavil, as this medication can worsen the effects of alcohol.
