Basic Information On Q Var
Q Var is a glucocortico-steroid drug. It is available in the form of an inhaler. It is used to treat and manage asthma. It is used in prophylactic therapy in patients with asthma. In some patients the use of this drug may even eliminate the requirement/ administration of systemic corticosteroids. The drug is meant for treatment in patients who are 5 years of age or older. The drug is also available as a nasal spray and is used in treating sinusitis and rhinitis (such as hay-fever). Other use of the drug is in the form of an ointment which is effective in treating skin disorders with severe inflammation such as eczema. Brand or generic Q Var acts by inhibiting the release of inflammatory-mediators and by inhibiting the inflammatory cells.
Precautions / Side Effects For Q Var
Serious side effects of Q Var drug may include nausea, weight loss, loss of appetite, feeling tired, weakness, breathing problems, wheezing, bruising, skin rashes, numbness, severe tingling, muscle weakness and pain. Changes in the body shape or location of the fat (especially in the face, neck, breasts, arms, waist and legs) and worsening of asthma symptoms may also occur. Beclomethasone may also cause allergic reactions such as hives, swelling of the face, throat, tongue of lips and difficulty in breathing.

Common side effects of the drug may include dryness of the mouth, throat or nose, deepened voice, hoarseness of the voice, sore or white patches in the mouth or on the lips, stuffy nose, sore throat, sinus pain, headache or cough. Q Var Dosage
In the treatment of asthma for children between the age of 5 to 11 years, who have been previously treated with bronchodilators alone or with inhaled corticosteroids the recommended starting dose of Q Var is 40 mcg twice daily. Also, the highest dose recommended is 80 mcg to be administered twice daily. In adolescents and adults who have been previously treated with bronchodilators alone, the recommended starting dose is 40-80 mcg, twice daily and those who have been previously treated with inhaled corticosteroids, the recommended starting dose of Q Var drug is 40-160 mcg, twice daily. The maximum recommended dose is 320 mcg, twice daily.
