Description of Norpace CR
Norpace CR is a medication with the generic name Disopyramide. The medication belongs to the drug class known as antiarrhythmic medicines. You can buy Norpace CR as an extended-release oral capsule with the following dosage strengths- Norpace CR 100mg and Norpace CR 150mg. All oral capsules contain a phosphate form of Disopyramide, apart from the following inactive ingredients- corn starch, sucrose, titanium dioxide, talc, shellac, gelatin and ethylcellulose.
Indications & Dosage of Norpace CR
Norpace CR is specifically indicated for treating serious cases of arrhythmias, which is a medical condition characterized by irregular heartbeat patterns. It is important to note that Norpace CR is only prescribed when the patient’s condition is considered serious enough or life-threatening. Norpace CR is seldom considered the first choice for treating arrhythmias.
Norpace CR is only taken if prescribed by your doctor. You must not take a dosage of Norpace CR that is larger than what was prescribed, as it may lead to severe overdosing. Most adult patients would first be prescribed a daily dosage between 400mg and 800mg. The dosage would then be changed according to your own tolerance and response to the medication.
In most cases, patients would be prescribed a daily dose of 600mg, divided into 200mg per 12 hours for Norpace CR. You must not break, chew or brush the capsule while consuming it because it is a controlled release tablet. By doing so, you would risk releasing an immediate release of a large dosage of Disopyramide, which may lead to an overdose. Moreover, you must follow the exact schedule, with accurate and equal intervals between each dose. You should not change or skip your dosing schedule, as it may worsen your condition.
