Myfortic Information
Myfortic is an immunosuppressant agent. It is used as a prophylactic therapy for organ rejection. It is recommended for patients who are receiving allogeneic-renal transplants. The drug is administered in combination with other drugs such as cyclosporine or corticosteroids. The generic drug is a selective and reversible-inhibitor of IMPDH (that is inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase). By doing this the drug inhibits the T-lymphocytes and B- lymphocytes. Also, it suppresses the formation of antibodies by the B- lymphocytes. It also inhibits the leukocyte recruitment into the inflammation-site and inhibits graft rejection.
