Description of Loestrin
Loestrin is a contraceptive used to prevent a pregnancy. The generic name of the drug is Ethinyl Estradiol and Norethindrone
You must buy Loestrin only as per the prescription of your doctor. Read the instructions carefully on the patient information leaflet. If you have any doubt about how to take Loestrin, ask your doctor or pharmacist for further advice. The first tablet must be taken on the first day of your period or the first Sunday after your period. You will have to use other birth control devices such as condoms when you start using the pill. Take the pill every day, or else there are chances for you to get pregnant. Follow the instructions of your doctor carefully. Loestrin is chewable. You may either chew it or swallow it. If you are chewing it, drink a full glass of water soon after taking the pill.
Indications & Dosage of Loestrin
Loestrin prevents ovulation in the female body. It also makes changes in the uterine lining and makes it difficult for the sperm to enter the uterus, while also making it difficult for the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterus.
The recommended dosage of Loestrin is one pill every day. You may suffer from excess bleeding for the first three months while using the tablet. If the bleeding continues, contact your doctor. The 28 day pack will contain pills for 28 days, 7 of the pills are placebo reminder pills to keep your period cycle regular. Take the pill regularly. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, follow the instructions included with the package. If you forget to take the pills more than two times, start with a new pack after two days. You will not be protected from pregnancy during these two days and may not be protected of that cycle. Don’t take more than one pill a day. Don’t take an overdose of Loestrin. The common symptoms of an overdose are nausea, vomiting and vaginal bleeding. Seek immediate medical help in case of an overdose.
You must store Loestrin at room temperature away from direct light, heat and moisture. Make sure that the tablets are kept away from the reach of children and pets.
