Description of Latisse
Latisse is a medicinal solution prescribed to individuals with hypotrichosis. It belongs to a class of drugs known as prostaglandins. The active ingredient bimatoprost is known to lengthen the duration of the hair growth phase and improve the quantity of hair follicles. A doctor’s prescription is required to buy Latisse even though it is a cosmetic drug.
The generic name of Latisse is Bimatoprost Ophthalmic solution. It is available in bottles containing 3ml of the solution. Each bottle contains bimatoprost at the rate of 0.3mg per ml and the following inactive components: benzalkonium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate, sodium chloride, citric acid, purified water and sodium hydroxide/hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.
Indications & Dosage of Latisse
Latisse is approved for the treatment of hypotrichosis, a disease characterised by poor eyelash growth. Latisse helps in thickening, darkening and strengthening the eyelashes.
A single drop of Latisse each night using the applicator supplied to patients who buy Latisse is the recommended dosage. The solution should be applied on the lash line of the upper eyelid of both the eyes. The excess solution should be wiped away from the surrounding skin as unwanted hair growth may otherwise occur. Latisse should NOT be applied on the lower lash line.
Using more than one drop of Latisse does not improve results. Some patients need to wait for weeks before the eyelashes become thicker.
