Hepsera Information
Hepsera is an antiviral drug that belongs to a group of medication called nucleotide analogs. It is used to treat patients with long term hepatitis -B (viral infection of liver) who have symptoms of the disease. It works by blocking an enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which is important in the reproduction of hepatitis B virus in the body, thus preventing liver damage. Dosage Information For Hepsera
Hepsera is taken in strengths of 10 mg in chronic hepatitis B patients 12 years and above with no kidney problems. It is taken orally once daily, with or without food. It is not used in children below 12 years. In patients with kidney disease the dosage is adjusted at intervals based on a test called Creatinine Clearance test.
