Description of Epiduo Gel
Epiduo Gel has Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide as its active ingredients. Benzoyl Peroxide belongs to the class of oxidizing agents, and Adapalene is a synthetic retinoid analogous to vitamin A. Combination of the drugs forms an anti-acne medication. Apart from the two major ingredients, Epiduo Gel also contains inactive ingredients including sorbitan oleate, purified water, propylene glycol, polysorbate 80, poloxamer 124, isohexadecane, glycerin, edentate disodium, docusate sodium and acrylamide. Your doctor will not recommend you to buy Epiduo Gel if you have allergy to any of these ingredients of the drug.
Indications & Dosage of Epiduo Gel
Epiduo Gel is indicated for the treatment of severe acne in patients more than 12 years of age. Benzoyl Peroxide helps in washing away dirt and excess oil from the skin. Adapalene helps the skin of the patient to renew itself.
You may apply Epiduo Gel on your affected skin, usually once a day. Depending on the severity of your acne and your response to treatment, your doctor may also advise you to apply the medicine two times per day. Using more Epiduo Gel than prescribed may lead to severe irritation or dryness. Therefore, use it exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Before you apply the gel on your skin, make sure that your hands, as well as the area to be treated are clean and dry. Take a small amount of gel on your finger, apply it on your affected skin, and rub in gently.
