Description of DuoTrav Eye Drops
DuoTrav Eye Drops contain two active ingredients: Timolol and Travoprost. Timolol belongs to the class of beta-adrenergic receptors blockers, while Travoprost is a prostaglandin analogue. It is available in the form of an ophthalmic solution. Apart from 0.004% Travoprost and 0.5% Timolol, the ophthalmic solution also contains benzalkonium chloride, castor oil, disodium edetate, boric acid, purified water, mannitol and trometamol.
Indications & Dosage of DuoTrav Eye Drops
Your doctor will recommend you to buy DuoTrav Eye Drops in order to reduce pressure inside the eyes due to open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It works by reducing the amount of fluid produced in your eyes and increasing its outflow.
Each ml of the ophthalmic solution contains 0.04mg Travoprost and 5mg Timolol. You will have to use the drops exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The amount and frequency of applying the eye drops depends on the severity of your medical condition and how your body responds to the drug.
While applying the eye drops, make sure that the tip of the dropper does not touch any surface, not even your hands or eyes. This may contaminate the tip and may result in worsened condition or infection in your eyes.
Side Effects & Interactions of DuoTrav Eye Drops
Some of the side effects commonly associated with DuoTrav Eye Drops include:
- Changes in the color of the iris or eyelashes
- Dizziness
- Dryness, redness, irritation or itching in the eyes
- Increased tears
- Lengthening or thickening of eyelashes
- Itchy eyelids
- Headache
- Blurred vision
- Postnasal drip
- Thirst
- Throat irritation
These are temporary side effects of the drug and should subside within a few minutes of applying the eye drops. However, inform your doctor at once if any of these worsen or persist. Also seek medical attention immediately if you develop inflammation on the eyelids or the eyes, infection in the eyes or eyelids, increased sensitivity to light, injury to the eyes, eye pain or increased or decreased blood pressure and heart rate.
Some patients may develop an allergic reaction after applying DuoTrav Eye Drops. Symptoms of such a condition include hives, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing or facial swelling. Stop using the drug if you develop any of these symptoms.

- Tricyclic antidepressants (e.g. clomipramine)
- High blood pressure medicines (e.g. irbesartan)
- Protease inhibitors (e.g. ritonavir)
- Benzodiazepines (e.g. diazepam)
Warnings & Precautions of DuoTrav Eye Drops
Before you buy DuoTrav Eye Drops, inform your doctor if you have cardiogenic shock, asthma, sinus bradycardia, severe COPD or uncontrolled heart failure.
Contact lens wearers should remove them before applying DuoTrav Eye Drops of administering the dose, and should not re-insert them before at least 15 minutes.
