Description of Brilinta
Brilinta prevents unwanted blood clots that occur due to certain heart and blood vessel conditions. The generic name of the drug is Ticagrelor.
You must buy Brilinta as per the prescription of the doctor. The medicine can be taken with or without food. It must be taken with aspirin. Take the medicine at the same time every day.
Indications & Dosage of Brilinta
Brilinta keeps the platelets in the blood from clotting. It is also used to lower the risk of heart problems after having a heart attack or severe chest pain.
Brilinta is a yellow colored, round tablet. The recommended dose of Brilinta for the first time is 180 mg (two 90-mg tablets), along with 325 mg of aspirin every day. After that, the recommended dosage is 90 mg two times per day, along with one tablet of 70 to 100 mg of aspirin. By taking more than 100 mg of aspirin in a day, you may reduce the effect of Brilinta.
Since Brilinta reduces blood clotting, there is an increased chance of internal bleeding, especially in the stomach and intestines. Consult your doctor at the earliest if you have black or bloody stools. Don’t stop taking Brilinta without the advice of the doctor. Don’t miss any dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, avoid the skipped dose. Don’t overdose on Brilinta, as this may result in excessive bleeding. Seek immediate medical attention in case of an overdose. Avoid drinking alcohol during treatment, because it increases the risk of bleeding. Don’t stop the medication if you experience mild bleeding. Get the prescription refilled before the medication gets, over as stopping Brilinta abruptly increases the risk of stroke.
You must store Brilinta at room temperature, away from moist and heat. Keep the medicine away from the reach of children.
