Description of Atarax
Atarax is used to treat allergic reactions such as itching, sneezing and excessive production of mucus caused due to certain allergic reactions. It is also used to treat anxiety. The generic name of the drug is Hydroxyzine.
You must buy Atarax as directed by the doctor. You must take the tablet orally with or without food. You may take food in order to avoid an upset stomach.
Indications & Dosage of Atarax
Atarax is an antihistamine that opens the breathing channels, reduces pain and allergy symptoms, and prevents vomiting and nausea caused by motion symptoms. It also works in the brain to reduce anxiety.
Atarax is available in four forms, i.e., tablets (10, 25 and 50 mg), capsules (25, 50, 100 mg), syrup (10 mg per teaspoon) and injection (25 to 50 mg/mL). The recommended dosage of Atarax is 25 mg for 3-4 times a day. When the drug is used for sedation, the dosage is 50-100 mg. Anxiety is treated with 50-100 mg 3-4 times a day. You must take the drug on time. Never take a double dose of Atarax if you have missed one. You can continue with your regular schedule if it is already time for the next dose. Don’t take an overdose of Atarax. In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Don’t share the drug with other people. Avoid alcohol or alcoholic beverages during treatment. Consult your doctor before you start, stop or change the dosage of Atarax.
Atarax capsules, tablets and liquid must be stored at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. The liquid must not be frozen. You should shake the bottle well before use. The injection must be kept at room temperature below 30 degrees Celsius. You must keep Atarax away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Keep it away from the reach of children.

The common side effects of Atarax are:

Serious side effects of Atarax are:
- Difficulty breathing
- Tightness in the chest
- Severe allergic reactions such as rashes and hives
- Involuntary movements
- swelling of the mouth, lips and face
