Description of Alupent
Alupent is used to treat wheezing and other breathing related problems. The generic name of the drug is Metaproterenol Sulfate USP.
You must buy Alupent as per the directions of the doctor. Read the instructions carefully on the leaflet. If you have any further doubts, ask your pharmacist or doctor. Shake the canister well before the first spray. Take the cap off the mouthpiece. Keep the mouthpiece inside your mouth and exhale. Enclose the mouthpiece with your lips. Make sure that the canister is kept vertically. Inhale deeply while spraying Alupent. Hold your breath for 10 seconds so that the drug will be absorbed. Replace the cap after use. Keep the mouthpiece clean all the time. If more than one inhalation is prescribed, administer it after one minute.
Indications & Dosage of Alupent
Alupent is used for the treatment of various lung diseases such as wheezing, shortness of breath due to asthma, bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The spray opens the breathing passage and makes it easier to breathe. The Inhalation contains 150 mg of metaproterenol sulfate that is sufficient for 200 inhalations. Each dose delivers 0.65 mg of metaproterenol sulfate.
The recommended dosage of Alupent is 2-3 inhalations per day. There should be a 3-4 hour interval between each inhalation. You must not take more than 12 inhalations in 24 hours. The dosage of Alupent may vary depending on the medical condition of the patient and the response to treatment. You must not miss any dose of Alupent. If you miss the dose, take is as soon as possible. Skip the dose if it is time for the next dose. Don’t take an overdose of Alupent. The common side effects of overdose are hypertension, hypotension, headache, angina, dry mouth, nausea and insomnia. Seek immediate medical attention if you overdose on the drug.
You must store Alupent at room temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. Avoid heat and excessive humidity. Keep it away from the reach of children.
