Accutane Information
Accutane is referred to as ATRA that is all-trans retinoic acid. It is a derivative of retinol which is vitamin A, which occurs naturally. It is used for the treatment of recalcitrant nodular-acne which is severe in nature. It is effective in treating the inflammatory lesions called nodules that are 5 mm or more in diameter. The generic drug is also used as an anti-cancer agent in the treatment of APL (acute promyelocytic leukemia). Retinoids are needed for the reproduction, differentiation and proliferation of the cells, in the treatment of acne. It is also required for the repair of photo-damaged skin.
