Zaditor belongs to a class of drugs called the antihistamines.
What is Zaditen Oral Syrup used for?
Zaditor is indicated for the prevention and treatment of severe itching in the eyes caused by seasonal allergies or conjunctivitis.
How does Zaditen Oral Syrup work?
Zaditor consists of mast cell stabilizing properties that inhibit the release of histamine that causes allergic reactions.
How to use Zaditen Oral Syrup
Zaditor should be taken in the manner prescribed by the doctor. Taking it for longer periods or in larger amounts than recommended can cause health problems.
Wash your hands with a disinfectant soap and dry them before you use Zaditor. Do not let the dropper touch your eye and for that matter do not let your finger touch the dropper. This may pass on the germs into the eyes through the contaminated medicine.
Do not wear your lenses unless the doctor allows you to while taking this medicine. Wait for a period of at least 10 minutes after taking off the lenses. If the eyes are red or irritated, consult the doctor immediately.
Tilt the head back while looking upward, drop the requisite amount of medicine through the dropper into your eyes. Lower your eyes and close them for about one to two minutes. Then continue the regimen for the next eye. Gently press the area near the beginning of the nose bridge near the eye to avoid drainage.
Zaditen Oral Syrup warnings and precautions
Do not take this drug if you are allergic to any of Zaditor’s ingredients.
Do not use the medicine if the color of the liquid changes or if there are particles in it.
Before using Zaditor, tell your doctor if you are suffering from or have suffered from eye problems like glaucoma etc.
Zaditor is known to cause temporary blurriness and a vision change for some time. Therefore, it is advised that you do not drive or take up any attention demanding task after being administered with Zaditor.
Do not administer this medication to children under the age of 3 years.
Pregnant women should use this medicine only after confirming with the doctor. Lactating women should also talk to their doctors before taking this medicine as it has not been known if Zaditor passes through the breast milk.
What do I do if I have missed a Zaditen Oral Syrup dose?
If you have missed your Zaditor dose you can take the missed dose as soon as you remember but do not take it if it is time for your next dose. An extra dose to cover up the missed one is not recommended.
What do I do if I have taken a Zaditen Oral Syrup overdose?
If you have taken a Zaditor overdose, contact your doctor right away.
Zaditen Oral Syrup interactions
Before using Zaditor, tell your doctor about all the prescription and non prescription drugs that you are using or intend to use while undergoing this treatment. Also tell your doctor if you are taking some herbal products. This will help him know your exact condition and will know what dose to give you.
Zaditen Oral Syrup side effects
Zaditor side effects include hives, breathing trouble, rash, swelling on the face, throat, tongue or lips. Stop using Zaditor and contact your doctor immediately if you experience side effects from Zaditor like vision change, severe itching in the eye, pain in the eye, redness, swelling in the eyelid, drainage of eye fluid, etc.
Other side effects of Zaditor include increased sensitivity to light, stinging and irritation in the eye, mild burning and dryness of the eye.
