What is Veramyst Nasal Spray?
Veramyst (or Avamys) is a nasal spray, which is chemically known as Fluticasone furoate and belongs to a class of medicines called corticosteroids.
What is Veramyst Nasal Spray used for?
Veramyst is used for treating seasonal and general allergy symptoms, including runny nose, stiffness, swelling or itching of nose, and redness of eyes. It is prescribed to patients suffering from seasonal allergic rhinitis and is given to adults and children, who are in the age group of 2 to 12 years.

How to use Veramyst Nasal Spray
Rely on your doctor for exact information regarding the usage of Veramyst, as the doses may vary according to your age and other medical factors. Generally, two sprays per nostril per day is the recommended dose. It should be taken for the full prescribed time for best results. Do not stop taking Veramyst even if you start feeling better after a few doses.
Before taking your Veramyst dose, shake the medication thoroughly, tilt your head and put the nozzle inside your nostril pointing towards the sides of your nose. After this, press the button and let the spray enter your nasal track, now breathe through your nose and leave your breath through your mouth. Repeat the process 2 to 3 times with the other nostril as well.

- Be cautious while applying Veramyst and make sure it does not enter your eyes. If it accidently happens, wash the eyes with clean water.
- Do not use it if you are allergic to Veramyst or any of its ingredients.
- Disposing of the medication in waste water is also not recommended.
- Avoid using Veramyst after using it for the number of labeled times.
- Store the medication in a specific position, i.e. upright down with its cap on and keep it beyond the reach of children.

If you have missed your Veramyst dose, you should skip it and resume your instructed dose, especially if you recall it after a few hours.

The drugs that may interact with this medication, resulting in serious medical complications, are antifungal medications like ketoconzole or voriconazole and ritonavir.

Side effects of Veramyst that are commonly known and need medical attention only if they persist or get troublesome include back pain, cough, headache, and sore throat.
Other more serious, but rare side effects of Veramyst that demand an instant medical assistance are abnormal heartbeats, ulcers inside nose, persistent fever and fungal infections in nose.
