How to use Ultracet
Ultram should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Thus, carefully follow all the instructions given on the prescription label. Taking it for longer period or in larger amount than prescribed can cause some health problems.
Ultram should be consumed with a full glass of water, and can be taken with or without food. To gain maximum benefit, the dose should be taken at the same time every day.
The Ultram pill should never be crushed, chewed or broken. Also, its elements should neither be inhaled nor be injected. These actions can be extremely fatal to one’s health.
Ultracet warnings and precautions
If you have a medical history wherein you have suffered from epilepsy, metabolic disorder, or head injury, you should not take this medicine. Also, do not take Ultram if you have been addicted to alcohol or drugs like depression medicines, sedatives or tranquilizers, narcotic pain medications, street drugs, or medicines used to treat mental illness.
Abstain from alcohol completely during and after the course of this medication.
You may need a dose adjustment if you are suffering from severe stomach disorder, or liver or kidney disease.
Even though you feel that the drug is not working efficiently in relieving your pain, do not alter the medication without consulting your medical advisor.
Children below the age of 18 years are strictly forbidden to have this medicine. Pregnant women should consult their doctors before taking this medicine. If you are a lactating mother, you should not consume Ultram without consulting your doctor, as it may cause harm to a nursing baby.
What do I do if I have missed a Ultracet dose?
If you have missed your Ultram dose, you should take it as soon as you remember but, if it is already time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your schedule.
What do I do if I have taken a Ultracet overdose?
If you have taken an Ultram overdose, you should immediately consult your doctor.
Ultracet interactions
Ultram should not be taken with other medicines like antidepressants such as Elavil, Celexa, desipramine, or MAO inhibitors. These drugs, if allowed to interact with Ultram, can cause seizure. Also, one must not take any allergy medicine, narcotic pain relievers, or muscle relaxants with Ultram.
If you are previously taking medicines, like warfarin, quinidine, or sleep inducing drugs, medicines for seizures, depression, and anxiety; then inform your doctor beforehand, as they should not be taken in concurrence with Ultram.
Moreover, before taking this medication, you should inform your doctor, about any vitamins, minerals, herbal products, or other drugs like ketoconazole, rifamin, erythromycin and carbamazepine that you may be using.
Ultracet side effects
If the usage of Ultram results in any kind of allergy, like hives, breathing trouble, or swelling on face or lips, consult your doctor without delay.
There can be some other critical side effects of Ultram also, like agitation, hallucinations, fever, fast heart beat, seizure, nausea and vomiting, loss of coordination, overactive reflexes, fainting, and impairment of thinking or reactions.
Also, the medicine can result in convulsions, red skin, shallow breathing and weak pulse. Consult your doctor, if any of the above symptoms are seen after the usage of Ultram.
There are some minor side effects from Ultram also, like wooziness, sleepiness, weakness, blurring of vision, insomnia, flushing, constipation, and less appetite.
