Toradol

What is Toradol IM Amps?

Acular belongs to a family of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

What is Toradol IM Amps used for?

Acular is used in the eyes, to relieve itching caused by allergies that are seasonal in nature. It also helps reduce eye pain, swelling, stinging and burning following cataract surgery or corneal refractive surgery.

How does Toradol IM Amps work?

Acular works by blocking certain natural substances in the body, which are responsible for pain and swelling in the eyes.

How to use Toradol IM Amps

Acular should be taken in the manner prescribed by the doctor. Taking it for longer periods or in larger amounts than recommended can cause problems in the eyes.

Put Acular eye drops in the affected eye(s) four times daily. Wash your hands properly before using Acular eye drops.

To apply the eye drops, follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Tilt your head back slightly.
  • Pull down on the lower eyelid
  • Hold the eye dropper above the eye. Make sure that the dropper is tipped down.
  • Look up. Don’t look into the dropper, look away from it.
  • Squeeze out one drop and close your eye.
  • Press your fore-finger gently to the inside corner of the eye (near the nose). Do it for about a minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct.
  • Wait for at least 5 minutes before using any other prescribed eye drops.

Toradol IM Amps warnings and precautions

Do not use Acular if you are allergic to ketorolac or to any other NSAID.

Prior to taking Acular, tell your doctor if you have diabetes, dry eye syndrome, arthritis, a bleeding or blood clotting disorder such as hemophilia, glaucoma, or if you have recently had any other kind of eye surgery.

Do not touch the dropper as contaminated dropper can cause infection in the eye resulting in loss of vision or damage to the eye. Remember not to use the medicine while wearing contact lenses. Wait for at least 15 minutes before putting your lenses in the eyes.

Pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. If you plan to become pregnant, tell your doctor in advance about the use of this medicine. Lactating women should not take this medication unless prescribed by the doctor.

What do I do if I have missed a Toradol IM Amps dose?

If you have missed your Acular dose, skip the missed dose and use it at the time for your next (scheduled) dose. Do not take an extra dose.

What do I do if I have taken a Toradol IM Amps overdose?

An overdose of this medicine does not cause life-threatening symptoms, however if you have taken an Acular overdose you should seek medical attention.

Toradol IM Amps interactions

Before taking Acular, consult your doctor if you use any steroid medicine, including steroids eye drops, or blood thinners such as warfarin. Tell your doctor about all prescription and non prescription drugs that you use including vitamin and mineral supplements that you may be using. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.

Toradol IM Amps side effects

Acular side effects include severe burning sensation or itching in the eyes, red and watery eyes, eye pain, vision changes, white patches on eyes, increased sensitivity to light, crusting or drainage from eyes. If you get any of these side effects after using Acular, contact your doctor immediately.

Headache, puffy or swollen eyelids, mild burning, itching or stinging in the eyes are some less serious side effects of Acular.
