How does Sinequan work?
Sinequan works by affecting the balance of certain natural chemicals, called neurotransmitters, in the brain.
How to use Sinequan
Sinequan should be taken in the manner prescribed by the doctor. It is usually taken orally with or without food or as directed by the doctor. It is recommended to take each dose with a full glass of water. It is also suggested to take the medicine for the full prescription time to get the best results. Do not take it for longer period or in larger amount than recommended.
It is started with a low dose then dosage is increased. After stability, the dosage is reduced.
Remember to take the medicine at the same time each day. You should not stop taking the medicine without doctor’s advice because it may lead to various side effects and withdrawal symptoms that may cause health problems.
Sinequan warnings and precautions
Always consult your doctor before taking Sinequan, if you have an allergy to similar drugs. Also make your doctor aware about your medical history. This becomes essential particularly when you are suffering from bleeding problems, breathing problems, liver problems, urinating troubles, overactive thyroid, and certain eye problems. Also tell your doctor if you have had a recent heart attack or if you have a personal or family history of mental conditions.
Avoid performing activities that require attention like driving or using machinery after taking your Sinequan dose.

Do not perform strenuous exercises. Get your sugar levels monitored regularly if you are diabetic and are on Sinequan dosing schedule. Special caution is needed with elderly.
Pregnant women should consult their doctors first about whether to take it or not. Lactating women too are advised to not take Sinequan without consulting their doctors, as it is not known whether the drug passes into breast milk or if it may affect a nursing baby.
Sinequan may affect the heart rhythm (QT prolongation). So seek immediate medical attention.
What do I do if I have missed a Sinequan dose?
If you have missed a Sinequan dose, then take the medicine as soon as you remember it. If it is nearly time of your next dose then take your usual scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of the medication.
What do I do if I have taken a Sinequan overdose?
If you have taken an overdose of Sinequan, you should seek urgent medical help right at that moment.
Sinequan interactions
Before taking Sinequan always let your doctor know about all your prior medicines and ongoing medicines. Some drugs can interact with Sinequan, if taken in tandem with it, for example, arbutamine, sibutramine, bronchodilators, stimulants, thyroid supplements, anticholinergic drugs, or central-acting drugs used to treat high blood pressure.
Sinequan side effects
Sinequan causes various side effects.
Minor side effects of Sinequan include dizziness, tiredness and drowsing. If symptoms persist consult your doctor.
Consult your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but major Sinequan side effects occur: anxiety, agitation, confusion, tremors or severe stomach ache.
