What is Salagen?

Salagen is a cholinergic agonist.

What is Salagen used for?

Salagen is used to treat symptoms of dry mouth that can occur due to immune system disorders like sjogren’s syndrome or from saliva gland damage because of radiation treatment of head or neck for cancer.

How does Salagen work?

Salagen works by increasing saliva production by stimulating certain nerves. Increased saliva makes it easier and comfortable to speak and swallow.

How to use Salagen

Use Salagen in the manner prescribed by the doctor. Read the instruction leaflet very carefully before taking the drug. Do not take the medicine for longer period or in larger amount than prescribed. The medicine may be taken with food or full glass of water 3 - 4 times a day.

Your doctor may direct you to take the medicine twice daily, in some other manner. If such is a case, follow your doctor’s instructions wisely.

Get your blood tested on a regular basis, while you are on the dosing schedule of this medicine. It is recommended that you take the medicine at evenly spaced intervals.

Pregnant and lactating women should consult their doctors before taking this medication.
