What is Saizen?
Saizen (somatropin) is a form of human growth hormone produced by recombinant DNA technology. These hormones help in the growth of bones and muscles and thus are important for the body.
What is Saizen used for?
Saizen is indicated for the treatment of certain medical condition (growth hormone deficiency, intestinal disorder (short bowl syndrome), HIV- related weight loss or wasting, growth failure). It is also used to increase the height of children who are suffering from certain genetic disorder (Noonan syndrome, short stature by birth, Turner syndrome, chronic kidney failure).

What do I do if I have missed a Saizen dose?
It is very important to have each dose at scheduled time. However, if you have missed a Saizen dose, do contact your doctor at once so that he can establish a new dosing schedule for you. Do not try to double the dose to catch up.
Do call your doctor if you have missed 3 or more doses in a row.
What do I do if I have taken a Saizen overdose?
If you have taken an overdose of Saizen, you should seek medical help right away.
Saizen interactions
Before taking Saizen, tell your doctor about all the medicines that you are on, especially if you are taking drugs for diabetes, estrogen hormone replacement and glucocorticoids.
Do not stop, start or change the dosage of any medicine.
Saizen side effects
Major Saizen side effects include persistent fatigue, unusual weight gain, persistent slow heart beat, development of limp, unusual increase in thirst and urination, hearing problems, joint pain, fast heart beat, numbness. Do inform your doctor promptly if any of these unlikely but serious problems persist after taking your Saizen dose.
Less serious side effects from Saizen may include nausea, muscle pain or weakness, headache, or vomiting.
