What is Revatio?

Viagra is the citrate salt of sildenafil which is a selective inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) – specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5).

What is Revatio used for?

Viagra is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. It relaxes muscles and enhances blood flow to certain areas of the body.

How does Revatio work?

Viagra works by blocking a certain enzyme (phosphodiesterase-PDE5) in the body. The drug, in combination with sexual stimulation, works by helping blood flow in penis to achieve and maintain penis erection.

How to use Revatio

Viagra should be taken in the manner prescribed by the doctor. Taking it for longer periods or in larger amounts than recommended can cause health problems.

The drug is usually taken when required, at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. Do not take this drug more than once daily.

Revatio warnings and precautions

Do not take Viagra with nitrate medicines as it can reduce blood pressure and cause heart attack or stroke.

Prior to taking Viagra, tell your doctor if you have high or low blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, coronary artery disease or congestive heart failure, bleeding disorder (e.g. hemophilia), retinitis pigmentosa, stomach ulcer, blood cell disorder (e.g. sickle cell anemia, leukemia, or multiple myeloma), Peyronie’s disease (physical deformity of penis).

If you have a recent history of stroke, heart attack, or heart rhythm disorder, consult your doctor before taking Viagra.

What do I do if I have missed a Revatio dose?

Viagra is used as needed. Since you are not on a dosing schedule, it doesn’t matter if you miss a dose.

What do I do if I have taken a Revatio overdose?

If you have taken a Viagra overdose you should seek medical attention.
