What is Muse?

Muse is a medicated transurethral system for delivery of alprostadil to the male urethra.

What is Muse used for?

Muse is indicated for treatment for male sexual function problems such as erectile dysfunction.

How does Muse work?

Muse works by increasing the blood flow into the penis to attain and maintain erection.

How to use Muse

Follow your doctor’s instructions wisely. Muse is used by inserting the suppository in the penis as suggested by the doctor. Daily dosage per day depends on your medical condition and response to the therapy.

Muse starts working within 5-10 minutes of the dosage and erection lasts up to 30 - 60minutes. Remember not to use more than two doses in 24 hours. Do inform your doctor if your condition worsens after using the drug.

Muse warnings and precautions

Always consult your doctor before taking Muse. Inform your doctor if you have any allergies. Muse contains some inactive ingredients that may lead to allergic reactions or other problems. Do not use Muse if you are suffering from urethritis, inflammation, genitor urinary tract disorder, indwelling urethral catheter.

You will need to tell your doctor about your medical history before taking Muse, especially if it consists of serious penis condition, low blood pressure, heart disease, blood system cancer, or sickle cell anemia. You might need an adjustment in the dosage if you have any of these conditions.

Avoid performing activities that require attention like driving or using machinery after taking your Muse dose because it may lead to dizziness. Abstain from alcoholic beverages.

Muse does not act as protection against sexually transmitted diseases. To avoid such problems use effective barrier methods during all sexual activity.

This medication should never be used by women or children. If a man has consumed this medication before sexual intercourse with a pregnant woman, he must use condom or other effective barrier method.

What do I do if I have missed a Muse dose?

Since Muse is taken on an as needed basis, you are unlikely to miss a dose.

What do I do if I have taken a Muse overdose?

If you have taken an overdose of Muse, you should seek medical help right away.

Muse interactions

Before taking Muse, tell your doctor about all the medicines that you are on. Do not stop, start or change any medicine before informing your doctor.

Your doctor should be aware of all the prescription and non prescription medicine that you use especially if you are using high blood pressure medicines, warfarin, and heparin.

You should always keep a list of products used by you and share it with your physician.

Muse side effects

Muse side effects include penis pain, dizziness, and rapid heartbeat, minor bleeding, spotting from penis, and swelling. Do visit your doctor if any of these effects persist or worsen.

More serious side effects from Muse include painful and prolonged erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, skin rash, severe dizziness, trouble breathing and if your female partner has vaginal burning or itching then stop using Muse and seek medical help immediately.
