What is Mobic?

Mobic (meloxicam) is a derivative of oxicam. It belongs to a family of drugs known as non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

What is Mobic used for?

Mobic is indicated for the treatment of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis. It reduces pain, swelling and stiffness of joints.

How does Mobic work?

Mobic works by inhibiting the action of certain hormones called prostaglandins, which cause inflammation and pain in the body.

How to use Mobic

Mobic should be taken in the manner prescribed by the doctor. Taking it for longer periods or in larger amounts than recommended can cause health problems.

For adults, the maximum amount of the drug that can be consumed in a day is 15 milligrams. The medicine is usually taken once daily, with a full glass of water. Remember to take the medicine at the same time each day.

Prior to taking Mobic, tell your doctor if you are allergic to meloxicam, NSAIDs, aspirin or you have a history of heart attack, blood clot, stroke; heart disease, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, asthma, liver or kidney disease, polyps in nose or diverticulosis.

Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol while using Mobic as it can enhance the risk of stomach bleeding.

After taking the medicine, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes.

Pregnant women should not use the drug as it may harm an unborn baby. Lactating women must consult their doctors before starting with the medication.

What do I do if I have missed a Mobic dose?

If you have missed your Mobic dose you can take the missed dose as soon as you remember but do not take it if it is time for your next dose.

What do I do if I have taken a Mobic overdose?

If you have taken a Mobic overdose you should seek medical attention.
