Metanx

What is Metanx?

Metanx is a vitamin combination.

What is Metanx used for?

Metanx is indicated for the management of hyperhomocysteinemia and for supplementing the diet.

How does Metanx work?

Metanx works by providing nutritional supplementation for certain dietetic requirements.

How to use Metanx

Take Metanx the way it was prescribed by the doctor. Taking it for longer duration or in larger amount than recommended can cause serious health problems.

The medicine is generally taken once daily, with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

Remember to take the medicine at the same time every day.

Metanx warnings and precautions

Do not take Metanx if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or if you have any other allergies. Do not also take larger doses unless you have been directed to do so by your doctor.

Do not give Metanx to children unless you have confirmed its safety with the doctor.

Prior to taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are suffering from anemia and are taking medicines for treatment.

Pregnant women must discuss the benefits of this medicine with their doctors. If you are planning to conceive or have become pregnant while undergoing this treatment, contact your doctor right away. Do not start or stop taking Metanx without informing the doctor.

If you are lactating, check with your doctor if Metanx can be used during this period or not.

What do I do if I have missed a Metanx dose?

If you have missed a Metanx dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue the routine. Do not take an extra dose just to catch up.

What do I do if I have taken a Metanx overdose?

If you have taken an overdose of Metanx, rush to the nearest poison control center or contact your doctor right away.

Metanx interactions

Some medicines like fluorouracil and hydantoins may interact when used in tandem with Metanx. Fluorouracil must not be taken with Metanx because its actions and side effects may be increased, and hydantoins like phenytoin should also be avoided because its effectiveness may be neutralized or decreased by Metanx. Tell your doctor about all the medicines that have been prescribed for your health, before using Metanx.

If you are using herbal products, inform your doctor with immediate effect. This will help your doctor learn the exact condition of your health and prescribe the dose that will benefit you the most.

Metanx side effects

If you undergo drowsiness; swelling in the entire body, mild diarrhea, numbness or tingling, etc, do not panic as these are mild and common side effects of Metanx.

Seek immediate medical help if you notice rash, dizziness, tightness in the chest, itching and swelling of the face, tongue and throat. These side effects from Metanx must never be ignored.

Metanx side effects should not be ignored at any point of time. If any common side effects persist, consult your doctor and have your dose adjusted. If a serious side effect is noticed, stop taking the medicine and talk to your doctor about it.
