What is Lustra AF?
Lustra AF is a topical medicine that decreases the formation of melanin in the skin. Melanin is a pigment that gives brown color to the skin.
What is Lustra AF used for?
Lustra AF is used to lighten dark patches of skin (freckles, liver spots, age spots, melasma, hyperpigmentation) caused by birth control pills, pregnancy, hormone medications, or skin injury.
How does Lustra AF work?
Lustra AF works by blocking the process that leads to skin discoloration.
How to use Lustra AF
Lustra AF should be used in the manner prescribed by the doctor. Using it for longer period or in larger amount than recommended may increase side effects.
Before using, take a patch test by applying a small amount of medicine to an area of unbroken skin and check it for any serious side effects within 24 hours. If it itches or becomes red and puffy, do not use this product and consult your doctor. However, if you witness just mild redness, you may begin with the treatment.
Before applying the medicine, wash your hands and gently clean the affected area of the skin with a mild skin cleanser. After washing, pat your skin dry.
The medicine should be applied twice daily. Remember to use it at the same time each day.
Lustra AF warnings and precautions
Although the medication contains sunscreen, it is better to avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays (tanning beds or sunlamps) while using Lustra AF. Make sure that the medicine does not get into your eyes, however, if it does, splash water and contact your doctor.
Do not apply it on dry, chapped, wind-burned, irritated, sunburned or on an open wound. Do not use harsh soaps, skin cleansers or other chemicals such as hair removers, waxes, spices, astringents, etc. as this may cause skin irritation.
Prior to using this medication, inform your doctor if you are suffering from liver or kidney disease. You might need an adjustment in the dosage.
Pregnant and lactating women should not apply the medicine without consulting their doctors.
What do I do if I have missed a Lustra AF dose?
If you have missed applying your Lustra AF dose you can apply it as soon as you remember but do not apply it if it is time for your next dose.
What do I do if I have taken a Lustra AF overdose?
Lustra AF is not expected to cause overdose symptoms. However, if you have used too much of this medicine, you should seek medical attention.
Lustra AF interactions
Before taking Lustra AF, consult your doctor if you use skin products that contain hydrogen peroxide, benzoyl peroxide or other such products. These can cause skin irritation if used along with Lustra AF.
Inform your doctor about all medicines that you use and all products that you use before being prescribed with Lustra AF. Also, do not start using a new medicine without consulting your doctor.
Lustra AF side effects
Lustra AF side effects include severe burning, itching, redness, stinging or irritation on the area which has been treated with Lustra AF. You might also have some allergic reactions. If you get any of these side effects after using Lustra AF, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor.
Mild burning, swelling, stinging, irritation, itching, or redness on the skin are some less serious side effects of Lustra AF.
