What is Estrace Vaginal Cream?

Estrace vaginal cream comprises female estrogen hormones. It is given to women who do not produce enough amount of estrogen that they used to earlier.


What is Estrace Vaginal Cream used for?

Estrace vaginal cream is used in the reduction of vaginal menopause symptoms such as burning, itching, or dryness.


How does Estrace Vaginal Cream work?

Estrace vaginal cream helps to increase estrogen for women who cannot produce themselves thereby helps in decreasing menopause problems. You need to fill the applicator with the medicine and then insert the applicator high into the vagina and press the plunger to release the medication.


How to use Estrace Vaginal Cream

Read the patient information leaflet carefully before using the medication.

Fill the medicine into the applicator and insert it high into the vagina. Press the plunger in order to release the medication. After use, clean the applicator with warm soapy water. Rinse well. Make sure that you do not clean it with hot water or boil the applicator.


Estrace Vaginal Cream warnings and precautions

Do inform your doctor about any sort of allergies that you have. The product contains inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

This medication should not be used by women who have abnormal and unchecked vaginal bleeding, uterine or breast cancer (or any other type of hormone dependent cancer), bleeding disorder, or a history of circulation problems or stroke.

Before using Estrace vaginal cream inform your doctor about your medical history like especially if it consists of asthma, seizures, liver disease, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, breast lumps, kidney disease, migraine headaches, gallbladder disease, high cholesterol or if you have had your uterus removed.

Estrace vaginal cream may cause you dizziness so it is advised not to drive, use machinery or do any sort of work which requires alertness. It may also cause patchy darkening of skin. It also leads to blood clotting especially for women above 35 years of age.

Pregnant and lactating women must not use the medicine.


What do I do if I have missed a Estrace Vaginal Cream dose?

In case you miss a dose of Estrace vaginal cream use it as soon as you remember it. In case it has neared your next dose then you may skip your missed dose any continue with your usual dosage. You should never double your dose.


What do I do if I have taken a Estrace Vaginal Cream overdose?

If you have taken an overdose of Estrace vaginal cream, you should seek medical help right away.


Estrace Vaginal Cream interactions

Your doctor must be aware of all the prescription and non prescription drugs that you are using or any other vaginal products, especially if you have been using blood thinner, ritonavir, carbamazepine, rifampin, antibiotics, or St. John’s wort.

Do not start, stop or change the dosage of any medicine before checking it with your doctor or pharmacist.


Estrace Vaginal Cream side effects

The minor side effects of Estrace vaginal cream are vaginal irritation, stomach upset, weight changes, breast tenderness, increased or decreased interest in sexual activity, light headedness, dizziness, nausea, or bloating. You should refer to your doctor if any of these prevails before these effects become worse.

Immediate action must be taken if the side effects are major like mental or mood changes like severe depression, memory loss, swelling of hands, vision changes, calf pain or swelling, chest pain, or trouble breathing.
