What is Clarinex Syrup?

Clarinex or desloratadine belongs to the class of drugs named peripherally selective piperidine. It is an antihistamine antagonist that promotes selective H1-receptor histamine antagonist activities.

What is Clarinex Syrup used for?

Clarinex is mainly used for treating the symptoms of the allergic conditions like itchy or watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, hives and restlessness.

How does Clarinex Syrup work?

Clarinex works by restricting the chain reactions triggered by histamine, thereby reducing the symptoms of allergic reactions.

How to use Clarinex Syrup

Use Clarinex strictly according to the directions given to you by your doctor. You can also check the label of the drug for further information regarding the usage of the same.

Take it orally. The medicine can be taken with or without food. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet. Swallow it whole. Also, do not give it to anyone who has not been prescribed.

While taking Clarinex in liquid form, make sure that you measure the dose with a special-dose measuring device only, else you won’t be able to get correct dose.

Before using the orally disintegrating tablets or Clarinex RediTabs, wash and dry your hands. Place the tablet on the tongue and it will soon begin to dissolve. Do not chew the tablet.

Clarinex Syrup warnings and precautions

Obediently follow the instructions given to you by your physician and be honest about any other medical condition that you suffer from (particularly kidney or liver disease), or some treatment that you are taking.

You should not take this drug if you are allergic to desloratadine or loratadine.

Do not consume alcohol while you are prescribed Clarinex, as it can cause dizziness. Be extra careful while using Clarinex, if you are pregnant or planning to conceive, or if you are breast-feeding your child.

Store the drug at 59° to 86°F and do not unwrap the tablet, until it is time for you to take it. Do not give it to children younger than 12 years of age.

If you have missed your Clarinex dose, you should take it as soon as you recall it. Do not take two doses at a time for covering up the missed one.

What do I do if I have taken a Clarinex Syrup overdose?

If you have taken a Clarinex overdose, you should contact your doctor at the earliest possible. Make sure you do not try and antidote without medical expert’s suggestion.

Clarinex Syrup interactions
