What is Celestone Soluspan Injection used for?
Celestone Soluspan Injection is indicated for the treatment of certain adrenal gland disorder as well as inflammatory symptoms caused by conditions such as allergies, asthma, blood disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, ulcerative colitis, lupus and certain eye and skin conditions. It is also used in the treatment of leukemia.
How does Celestone Soluspan Injection work?
Celestone Soluspan Injection contains betamethasone which is anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstructive in nature. It inhibits the actions of chemicals which cause inflammation in the body and modifies immune response to a number of conditions.
How to use Celestone Soluspan Injection
Celestone Soluspan Injection should be used in the manner prescribed by a doctor. The dosage depends on your medical condition and response to treatment.
It is advisable that the injection be administered by a health care professional only or you should learn to self-inject properly from a health care professional.
Using a larger dose or taking Celestone Soluspan Injection for a longer period of time than prescribed is not desirable.
If you are self-injecting wash your hands before and after injecting. Do not reuse a syringe or a needle and dispose of a used syringe/needle properly.
You should not use a Celestone Soluspan Injection formulation if you find discoloration or particles in it.
Do not increase or stop your dose without consultation with your doctor.
Celestone Soluspan Injection warnings and precautions
Celestone Soluspan Injection is not administered to patients who are allergic to betamethasone, or are taking mifepristone. Patients who have taken or are supposed to take smallpox vaccine or have systemic fungal infection or idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura are also advised against taking this injection.
Before using Celestone Soluspan Injection, inform your doctor about your medical conditions, especially if you are allergic to any other drug or have any of the following medical conditions: HIV, tuberculosis of skin, a recent bacterial, fungal, viral, malarial infection (especially herpes infection of eye, measles, chickenpox, shingles), a history of congestive heart failure, diabetes, kidney or liver problems, adrenal gland disorder, high blood pressure, underactive thyroid, low potassium levels in blood, stomach ulcers, ulcerative colitis, blockage or perforation of the intestinal walls, osteoporosis, myasthenia gravis, recent intestinal surgery, history of joint problems or surgery, or inflammation of the esophagus.
This injection is not meant to be used on newborns and infants. Doing so can have fatal consequences. Also, since corticosteroids inhibit growth, it should be used with caution in young children and adolescents.
Pregnant and lactating women are advised to discuss the possible risks and benefits of using Celestone Soluspan Injection with their doctors. You should also inform your doctor before planning a pregnancy during treatment.
What do I do if I have missed a Celestone Soluspan Injection dose?
If you have missed a Celestone Soluspan Injection dose, talk to your doctor. Do not use a double dose.

If you have used an overdose of Celestone Soluspan Injection, consult your doctor.
Celestone Soluspan Injection interactions
Some drugs which may interact with Celestone Soluspan Injection are: aspirin, barbiturates, live vaccines, erythromycin, cyclosporine, mifepristone, itraconazole, aprepitant, ketoconazole, clarithromycin, troleandomycin, or ritodrine.
It is necessary to inform your doctor about all the skin products/ prescription/ non prescription drugs/herbal medicines that you are using/ taking beforehand.
You should not start using any new topical product without consulting your doctor.
Celestone Soluspan Injection side effects
Side effects from Celestone Soluspan Injection include allergic reactions such as swelling, hives, redness of skin etc. as well as some serious side effects such as chest pain, irregular heartbeat, sudden severe dizziness or headache, easy bruising or bleeding, black or tarry stools, fever, sore throat and other symptoms of infection, skin thinning, changes in body fat, mood swings, vision changes, changes in menstrual periods, swelling of feet and legs, tendon or bone pain, changes in skin color, or unusual skin sensation. Consult your doctor if you witness any of these side effects.
Dizziness, lightheadedness, nervousness, clumsiness, nausea, headache, stomach upset, acne, facial flushing, increased appetite, general body discomfort, increased sweating, sleeplessness, irritation, redness or swelling at the injection site are some common and less serious side effects of Celestone Soluspan Injection.
